This product consist of two quality sealable plastic containers each containing 50 grams of ochre (total 100 g). The one container is filled with Red ochre, also known as Red Stone, consist of of clay, siliceous materials and the dehydrated form of iron oxide known as hematite. The other container is filled with Yellow Ochre consist of of clay, siliceous materials and the hydrated form of iron oxide known as limonite. Ochre was used 70 000 thousand years ago in the Western Cape for cave paintings, decoration and rite practises. This content originate from Albertinia ochre mine 20 km from the archaeological important Blombos Cave. The pigment is ideal for use in water colour paintings depicting natural scenes.
